80Kidz - UK Tour Reminder Thing...

Friday, May 8

80Kidz are embarking on their first UK tour (YAY!), it's part of the "100% Genki tour" which features the likes of "Pikachu's Psychotic Antidotes", "Chu Chu Rocket Fanclub", "Derp De Ghey" & "DESU DESU DESU GIRUGAMESH".

All stuff in regards to their "100% Genki Tour" can be found here. 80Kidz should rule, the rest of the artists... well... they will be craaaaaazy (^o^). But in all honesty calling a tour "100% Genki".....

80Kidz are alot more than just a "typical Japanese kids being typically Japanese crazy" image. They have just made one of the best electro albums of the year, yeah, really, they did. You should get it.

The Japanese Flyer for the 100% Genki Tour!

Despite us just poking fun out of it you should seriously go and see them on the tour. Because, for starters, the entire "tour" is mainly just Japanese artists at some amazing festivals which look like being awesome days out. The dig is at the promotion of them at these festivals, not the festivals themselves or the artists who are a part of this "tour". We just feel that when Japanese artists are marketed to the west, the tactic of focusing of "Japanese" & "Crazy" is a focal point used all too often and it is slightly cheapening to the artists in question whose music has a little more depth than to shoved in some dumb box like that.

Here is the "100% Genki tour" schedule, further dates which might not be related to the tour are on their myspace.

80Kidz - "Go Mynci" On Japanese TV: Ruined by some stupid TV presenter talking garbage over it :-(. Booo!!!!

MUSICAL HAPPY TREATS!

♫ 80Kidz - Getting You Off (Lapin Remix)
We affectionality call Lapin "Sarcastic Lapin" for reasons that will remain unknown, this is a typically brilliant remix from him though, which gives the track a sound similar to that of New Order's "Regret". This is the only other good remix from the "This Is My Shit" remix album, the other being the one from Scottish Fold (that we blogged a bit ago).

♫ 80Kidz - TGV
No idea why they left this off the physical release of "This Is My Shit" it's one of the best tracks on the album. Seriously... EPIC.

♫ LadybiRdS - Andy Lex (80Kidz Remix)
Readers of this blog may think we have blogged every 80Kidz remix ever, they would be wrong, very very wrong, for example there is an alternate version of this remix and 80Kidz have even re-remixed some of their older remixes which means there are loads. This one is in my "Top Ten". If anybody knows where to get their remix of "Disco Sirens" let me know... it's the only one I am missing. ;-)

Crazy!」

I heart 80kidz!!!

Oh and I heart TMS! Thanks for introducing me to some really awesome bands, capsule and trippple nipples and 80kidz of course.

Keep it up!

D

ps: I just thought it would be funny to mention that the word verification is asking me to type in limps with a wheelchair picture next to the text box. Kinda ironic.

This blog has been awesome for introducing me to Japanese electro.

100% Genki totally sucks for a name. They do the same shit in the US, drives me crazy.

Thanks. More stuff from Trippple Nippples to come in the future ;-).

@Anon 2
The Bufi remix? Yeah, I got that. It's a little bit lame, surprised that "Life Begins At Eighty" wasn't remixed more. It's begging for trashy remix or two...

hi japanese reader living in england here. sorry english might be bad. can I leave comments in japanese?

The joke for second Genki tour picture was very funny. I like and agree with the opinion. england has stereotype which is quite strange for me but I think I understand more now. there is not much genki about 80kidz or bands on this tour.

I wish we had more websites like this in japan.
